From understanding a process to proposing an improvement
An industrial system brings together people, equipment, materials and information. This degree invites you to analyze those relationships, identify problems and develop technically grounded solutions.
Areas of study
Processes and continuous improvement: analyze operations, quality and resource use.
Automation and control: understand how mechanisms, electronics and programming work together.
Modeling and simulation: represent systems and compare alternatives.
Maintenance and sustainability: consider reliability, safety and the impact of decisions.
How you will work
The plan includes design and simulation projects, virtual practical activities and academic participation. These activities connect concepts to engineering problems and help you explain your decisions.
Is it right for you?
This program may suit you if you enjoy understanding how things work, solving problems with mathematics and technology, and improving processes. A willingness to learn and work consistently is essential.
Where this learning can be applied
Operations, process improvement, automation, quality, maintenance and industrial solutions. Specific roles depend on your experience, capabilities and each organization's requirements.

Universidad Tewika. The study plan for Licenciatura en Ingeniería Industrial con Acentuación en Mecatrónica is incorporated into the State Education System under RVOE Agreement 1571/2026, dated June 18, 2026, issued by the Education Secretariat of the State of Durango, Mexico.
Why this engineering discipline matters
An industrial system is more than a machine. It connects people, equipment, materials, information and decisions. Improving one part without understanding the whole can simply move a problem elsewhere. Industrial engineering helps examine the system and compare solutions in terms of quality, reliability, safety and resources.
Automate with judgment
Mechatronics brings together mechanics, electronics, programming and control. Its value emerges when those disciplines address a clearly defined need. Understand the process before automating it; measure the effect afterward. The most sophisticated solution is not always the most appropriate.
From an idea to evidence
Illustrative example: investigating failures on a production line could involve defining measurements, examining causes, proposing sensors or operating changes and comparing outcomes in a simulation. Learning includes defending a design and acknowledging its limitations. This is an example, not an announced partnership or commissioned project.
Capabilities across contexts
Operations analysis, process improvement and technology integration matter in manufacturing, logistics and services. Specific roles and requirements depend on the organization and your experience; a degree does not guarantee employment.
